About Switch & Sprout

Switch & Sprout is about making smart-home technology, energy saving and useful everyday tech easier to understand.

There is a lot of clever technology out there, but buying and setting it up can quickly turn into a wall of jargon, specifications and products that all claim to be essential. We want to cut through that.

What we cover

• Smart plugs, sensors, heating controls and home automation
• Wi-Fi, Zigbee, Matter and Home Assistant
• Energy monitoring, solar and practical ways to reduce electricity use
• Garden automation, lighting, watering and outdoor technology
• Buying guides, calculators and tools that help you make a sensible choice

How we approach recommendations

We focus on what a product or setup is actually useful for, the trade-offs involved and who it makes sense for. Where we use affiliate links, we make that clear. A commission never changes the price you pay, and it does not make every product a good recommendation.

Guides are reviewed and updated when products, prices, standards or other important details change, so older articles do not quietly become misleading.

The aim

Quite simply: smarter homes, lower waste and technology that earns its place rather than making life more complicated.
